Talking about batik afdol not exist if not also talking about its origin, the discoverer, and type ...

"batik"is derived from the Javanese, the presence of batik in Java itself is not recorded. G.P. Rouffaer argue that the technique of batik was probably introduced from India or Sri Lanka in the 6th century or the 7th. On the other hand, J.L.A. Brandes (Dutch archaeologist) and F.A. Sutjipto (archaeologist Indonesia) believe that the tradition of batik is a native of the region such as the Toraja, Flores, Halmahera and Papua. It should be noted that these regions are not areas that are influenced by Hinduism but it is known to have an ancient tradition of batik making.

Batik in Indonesia has a variety of shades depending on the influence of social, cultural, and environmental conditions of society, Inland Batik in Yogyakarta and Surakarta, the majority has a symmetrical pattern, a large motif, the theme of community life terrestrial (forests, crops, and agricultural) and symbol-royal symbol. Selection of color is a natural feel, like chocolate (Sogan) describe the modesty and down to earth. This is in harmony with social, cultural, environmental, as the scope of Yogyakarta and Surakarta palace with fine character and slowly (Djoemena, 1990b: vi).

ME:

Before batik on passes by UNESCO, the use of batik is only used by the "parents" to attend the wedding ceremony and certain acara2 formal, and God knows since when batik again booming, batik toko2 appeared and proliferated, many college students and young people re-using batik as a new trend, other than that the place I work also requires the use of these garments, for use every Friday.

Hopefully this trend ABADI batik ...
